Manga about young man whose sister turns into demon launched in 2016

This year's 27th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine announced on Monday that Koyoharu Gotouge's Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba manga will get a television anime adaptation. ufotable is providing the animation.

To commemorate the adaptation, Weekly Shonen Jump is asking readers to write in with their favorite lines from the manga. Shueisha will open an official portal website on Monday at 10 a.m. Japan time (9 p.m. EDT).

The magazine teased last week that the manga would have a "super important announcement."

The series debuted in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump in February 2016 and Viz Media's English digital edition of Shonen Jump previewed the first three chapters under its Japanese title Kimetsu no Yaiba.

Viz Media will release the first volume of the series in English on July 3, and it describes the manga:

Since ancient times, rumors have abounded of man-eating demons lurking in the woods. Because of this, the local townsfolk never venture outside at night. Legend has it that a Demon Slayer also roams the night, hunting down these bloodthirsty demons. For young Tanjiro, these rumors will soon to become his harsh reality…

Ever since the death of his father, Tanjiro has taken it upon himself to support his family. Although their lives may be hardened by tragedy, they've found happiness. But that ephemeral warmth is shattered one day when Tanjiro finds his family slaughtered and the lone survivor, his sister Nezuko, turned into a demon. To his surprise, however, Nezuko still shows signs of human emotion and thought… Thus begins Tanjiro's request to fight demons and turn his sister human again.

Shueisha published the manga's 10th volume in Japan on March 2, and released the 11th volume on Monday.
