The Pretty Guardians Are Back with a Brand-New Tribute Album
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
In 2014, Sailor Moon was in the height of its nostalgia rebranding. The Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal anime remake just premiered, merchandise was everywhere, and the series' iconic theme songs got a make over for the 20th anniversary tribute album.
A total of 10 songs were updated by artists Momoiro Clover Z, Shōko Nakagawa, Haruka Fukuhara, Etsuko Yakushimaru, Tommy heavenly6, Halko Momoi, Mitsuko Horie, Makoto Kawamoto, and Mariko Goto x Avu-chan. The songs were also released on five 7-inch vinyl records.
Enough time has past since the initial 20th anniversary celebrations that the series is in the midst of its 25th anniversary, and that means a brand-new tribute album set for release on April 4. The new album brings together at least eight artists with the theme "Image of a Female Fighter." So far, the participating artists include:
- Yoko Ishida (Sailor Moon R, Sailor Moon S ending theme song artist)
- Sonoko Inoue
- Gesshoku Kaigi (18if)
- SILENT SIREN (anohana)
- Joō Bachi (Composition, arrangement on previous Sailor Moon tribute album, Sailor Moon Crystal character songs)
- Punk rock idol group BiSH
- Etsuko Yakushimaru (Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal: Season III, Space Dandy)
- LiSA (Sword Art Online theme songs)
The Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY MEMORIAL TRIBUTE album will cost 3,240 yen (US$30). The actual song tracks are still a mystery.
