Romance Blooms in BONES' Yokohama Promotional Mini-Anime

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

A new mini anime to promote Yokohama's largest complex development, The Green Baton Project, is hoping to appeal to viewers' romantic side. The three episodes animated by My Hero Academia's BONES studio stars different couples who remarkably all manage to find happiness in the area.

In the first episode, newlywed lovebirds move in together, go shopping for their new home, and enjoy a night out on the town in Yokohama's Minato Mirai district. The couple is voiced by duo Mitsuhiro Ichiki and Nana Inoue, who are married in real life. The voice acting couple mentioned that they found playing the roles a "natural fit."

The second episode will star Kenji Akabane and Sumire Uesaka as a father and mother. The family is visiting the area as part of a business trip. The third episode will finish out the mini-anime and follow a junior high school student name Honoka (Kokoa Aamano) and her grandfather (Katsuhisa Houki) who move into the area. Comic Natalie writes that the episodes will also take place in the Tōkaichiba area of Yokohama.

The mini-series is helmed by Noragami director Kotaro Tamura with original character designs by Yoshinori Shizuma (Grimoire of Zero, Katana Maidens: Toji no Miko). The band Awesome City Club is providing the theme song for the project.

Promotional anime are increasingly popular as of late. Animate and the Toshima ward of Tokyo are currently working on a promotional anime for Ikebukuro and Chichibu's own promotional anime with Seibu Railways will premiere online in March.
