Handsome Wine Guys Help Choose the Best Wine on NHK Program

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

NHK's program AsaIchi aired a segment "Gokujō ni Tanoshimu! 1,000-yen Wine" (Enjoy the Best! 1,000 yen Wine) that included tips about how to choose the best wine for your money by turning grape varieties into handsome male characters. The concept is just the next in a trend of anthropomorphic characters.

The program compared Cabernet Sauvignon to a macho, astringent handsome guy.

Merlot is tolerant, tender ikemen.

Pinot Noir is a handsome, noble youth from a lineage of intellectuals.

Chardonnay is an invigorating and handsome honors student.

Sauvignon blanc is an exhilarating type guy that's good-looking to boot.

Riesling is a healing, younger brother type.

If you've never tried wine before, maybe just picking which guy looks most likely to be your type is a decent way to start?
