Nanachi Leaves the Abyss for New Made in Abyss Figure

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Anime News Network's merchandise coverage sponsored by Tokyo Otaku Mode.

If your heart is prepared after viewing the finale of last season's Made in Abyss, you can take Nanachi home with you (Mitty not included).

Kotobukiya will release the 13.5-centimeter (about 5-inch) figure in March, but preorders are open now for 8,640 yen (about US$76).

Kotobukiya really pushed to give Nanachi a fluffy feeling despite the figure not actually being soft (stuffed Nanachi, when?) and recreate her helmet in great detail. The pedestal is a miniature cut of the Abyss where Nanachi lives when she meets Reg and Riko.

Amazon Prime's Anime Strike streaming channel simulcast Made in Abyss in the U.S. as it aired in Japan. Sentai Filmwork's HIDIVE service streamed the series in English outside of the U.S.

In the story, an enormous pit and cave system called the "Abyss" is the only unexplored place in the world. Strange and wonderful creatures reside in its depths, and it is full of precious relics that current humans are unable to make. The mysteries of the Abyss fascinate humans, and they head down to explore. The adventurers who venture into pit are known as "Cave Raiders." A little orphan girl named Rico lives in the town of Ōsu on the edge of the Abyss. Her dream is to become a Cave Raider like her mother and solve the mysteries of the cave system. One day, Rico starts exploring the caves and discovers a robot who resembles a human boy.

Masayuki Kojima (Black Bullet, Tibetan Dog) directed the anime at the studio Kinema Citrus (Scorching Ping Pong Girls, Barakamon). Hideyuki Kurata (Samurai Flamenco, The World God Only Knows) was in charge of series composition, and Kazuchika Kise (Ghost in the Shell: Arise Alternative Architecture, xxxHOLiC) designed the characters. Kevin Penkin (Norn9, Under the Dog) composed the music.
