posted on by Karen Ressler
Adaptation of Miwako Sugiyama's romance manga premieres October 30

dTV began streaming a 30-second preview of its live-action drama adaptation of Miwako Sugiyama's Hana ni Kedamono manga on Friday. The video focuses on "heart-pounding" scenes from the drama, and features the theme song "Waruguchi" (Insult) by Da-iCE.

The drama will start simultaneously on dTV and Fuji TV On Demand on October 30.

The manga is a romance between innocent new girl Kumi and handsome playboy Hyō. The adaptation stars, from right to left starting with the top row in the image below, Yōsuke Sugino as Hyō, Yuri Nakamura as Kumi, Shōma Kai as the honest and kind Tatsuki, Bullet Train's Takashi Matsuo as the cool and mysterious Chihaya who supports Kumi from the shadows, and AKB48's Anna Iriyama as Kumi's secretive friend Kanna.

Kentaro Otani (NANA) and Ryō Miyawaki are directing the adaptation. Miyako Matsumoto is writing the script.

The original manga ran in Shogakukan's Sho-Comi magazine from 2010 to 2012. Shogakukan published the manga in 10 compiled volumes that have more than 2 million copies in print.

Sugiyama's 4-Gatsu no Kimi, Spica romance manga inspired a live-action drama that bundled with an issue of Sho-Comi magazine in April 2016. The manga ended this past April.
