Kill Me Baby, Sweet Blue Flowers Voice Actress Ai Takabe Marries

posted on by Jennifer Sherman

Kill Me Baby voice actress and idol Ai Takabe has married a lawyer. According to a source for newspaper Sponichi Annex's report, the two submitted marriage registration about one month ago.

Takabe's husband is described as an "elite representative of a major law firm." Takabe had confirmed to Kodansha's Friday pictorial magazine in late August that she had a relationship with the man. An acquaintance of Takabe's stated that Takabe and the man were engaged at that time. She reportedly met the man after her agency dismissed her due to her arrest in 2015, and the couple's relationship began around summer 2016.

Takabe was arrested for cocaine possession in October 2015. The Tokyo Metropolitan Police charged her for drug use, but the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office decided not to prosecute Takabe.

On the day of the arrest, Japanese streaming services such as Amazon and Bandai Channel had removed Kill Me Baby and other anime in which Takabe voiced roles. However, Amazon resumed streaming of Kill Me Baby in July 2016.

Takabe made her debut in the entertainment industry after winning the Gravure Award in the Japan Bishōjo Contest in 2004. She made her voice acting debut in the Sweet Blue Flowers (Aoi Hana) anime series as Fumi Manjoume. She has also voiced characters in anime such as Hourou Musuko (Wandering Son), Sacred Seven, the Sacred Seven: Shirogane no Tsubasa film, and Kill Me Baby. She was a member of the Bishōjo Club 31 idol group, and has acted in live-action television series on Fuji TV and TV Asahi.
