New film stars Hikaru Midorikawa as Karato Hijiri

DLE Inc. opened a website on Monday for the theatrical anime based on the The Glass Mask Year 3 Class D short television anime series, which revealed the film's title as 3-Nen D-Gumi Glass no Kamen ~Tobidase Watashi-tachi no VR (Victory Road)~ (The Glass Mask Year 3 Class D ~Fly, Our VR). The site also began streaming a promotional video, and also revealed a new visual, new cast member, and the film's July 22 opening in Japan.

Hikaru Midorikawa will play a new character in the film named Karato Hijiri (seen right).

The film will be a "VR film" presented on a stage as if it were a stage play, with the characters projected on the stage using live holographic technology.

The film will screen in Japan from July 22-28 at the DMM VR Theater in Kanagawa, and will also have screenings from August 7-10, August 14-16, August 21-24, and September 1-3.

The Glass Mask Year 3 Class D is a spinoff based on Suzue Miuchi's Glass no Kamen (Glass Mask) manga. The anime re-imagines the manga and its characters in a school gag comedy focused on satirizing modern society. The anime premiered in October, and Crunchyroll streamed the series as it aired in Japan.

Michio Machida directed the anime at DLE Inc. Deko Akao (Noragami, Flying Witch, Arakawa Under the Bridge) wrote and supervised the scripts. Kio was credited for CG character design and modeling. Ponpoko P (Naria Girls) was credited as "MMD Director." Akiko Ashizuka from DLE Inc. and Ryō Kotake from Happinet were credited as producers. Ryūta Shiiki from DLE Inc. and Takuya Sasaki from Happinet were credited for planning. Miuchi was credited as supervisor.

Before producing The Glass Mask Year 3 Class D, Flash anime studio DLE had already produced the parody television anime Glass no Kamen Desu ga (It's Glass Mask But) in 2013, as well as the first Glass Mask film, Glass no Kamen Desu ga Onna Spy no Koi! Murasaki no Bara wa Kiken na Kaori!? (It's Glass Mask But: Female Spy's Love! The Purple Rose Has a Dangerous Scent!?), in the same year.
