Isobe Isobee Monogatari: Ukiyo wa Tsurai Web Anime Pokes Fun at Gintama

Gintama is no stranger to topical parodies, going so far as to mock politicians, popular anime, live-action series and movies, and musicians. However, the series found out what it's like when the shoe is on the other foot when the net anime Isobe Isobee Monogatari: Ukiyo wa Tsurai yo premiered this month. The series is an adaptation of Ryō Nakama's manga, which also runs in Weekly Shōnen Jump.
Protagonist Isobee appears in Gintoki's usual outfit, flanked by Jō Nakajima as Shinpachi Shimura and Dangoya no Kanbanmusume as Kagura. The characters are identified as "Three people and one dog waiting for a live-action film release."
Isobee is also shown DJing in a club, an obvious homage to Tonkatsu DJ Agetarō, an anime based on Yūjirō Koyama's manga that runs on the Jump+ site.
Two of the characters also mimic the iconic pose from the live-action Titanic film.
The Isobe Isobee Monogatari: Ukiyo wa Tsurai yo (Chronicle of Isobe -The Life Is Hard-) "mame anime" is streaming only on the GyaO! streaming service.
