Ghost in the Shell Song Opens Louis Vuitton Collection at Paris Fashion Week

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Designer Nicolas Ghesquière is continuing to infuse anime influences into the Louis Vuitton fashion brand. Previous collections referenced the likes of Sailor Moon, Ghost in the Shell, and even Akira. Now that Masamune Shirow's manga and anime adaptation are making headlines again thanks to the upcoming Hollywood live-action film, Ghesquière is returning to the cyberpunk world for the Fall 2017 collection.

Louis Vuitton's Fall 2017 collection sauntered down the runway at Paris Fashion Week to Kenji Kawai's Ghost in the Shell score.

The Louis Vuitton show took over Paris' historic Louvre art museum on Tuesday. The collection blended furs, metallics, and leather with traditional feminine silhouettes. It's definitely less punk than last year with plenty of business wear.

DreamWorks and Paramount's film staring Scarlett Johansson is set to premiere in the U.S. at the end of month and then in Japan on April 7.

Anime and fashion are merging more and more often lately. Attack on Titan will walk the runway this month in the Tokyo Girls Collection 2017 SPRING/SUMMER fashion line. Other anime characters have made appearances on the runway, including JoJo's Kakyoin. Prada "hired" characters from Final Fantasy XIII for its ads. Rei's plugsuit, albeit an altered one, also walked at a Victoria's Secret Fashion Show.
