TMS Entertainment Animates 2 PR Anime for Saga Prefecture

posted on by Lynzee Loveridge

Japan's Saga Prefecture is continuing its promotional campaign to attract visitors in two new animated shorts. The shorts will premiere on March 11 and are titled, "Tadaima" (I'm Home) and "Okaeri" (Welcome Back). Pony Canyon is producing the shorts with veteran directors Akitarō Daichi and Hajime Kamegaki at TMS Entertainment.

"Tadaima" follows a Thai foreign exchange student named Mei who finds herself bewildered when she first arrives at Saga station. She gets on a bus and, through interactions with the residents of Saga wherever she goes, she makes her own "precious memories."

The short is directed by Daichi, written by Hideki Sonoda, and features characters designed by Junko Yamanaka. Kaori Nazuka stars as Mei and Kotono Mitsuishi stars as Mei's mother, Jun.

While "Taidaima" takes place in Saga, "Okaeri" features scenery specifically from the city of Karatsu. Kamegaki is directing that short with a script by Sonoda and character designs by Yamanaka. Kappei Yamaguchi stars as the short's protagonist Sora Aoi. Mitsuishi will voice the character's mother, Miyoko Aoi.

The shorts will premiere at an event at the Saga Prefectural Museum of Art on March 11. Both Sonoda and Yamaguchi are scheduled to attend the event. The shorts will then air on YouTube on March 12.

Pony Canyon produced two earlier shorts for Saga prefecture last year. The shorts are titled "Yakusoku no Utsuwa - Arita no Hatsukoi" (The Pot of Promise - First Love in Arita), and "Fuyu no Chikai, Natsu no Matsuri - Takeoshi no Dai-Kusunoki," (The Oath of Winter, The Festival of Summer - The Great Camphor Tree of Takeoshi). Seven Arcs Pictures animated both shorts.
