My Hero Academia, Hozunde! Papamokko, Rikon Club also nominiated

The 44th annual Angoulême International Comics Festival, which will take place from January 26-29 in France, has announced its nominees for Best Comic, which include Minetarō Mochizuki's Chiisakobee, Hiroya Oku's Inuyashiki (pictured at right), Gengoroh Tagame's My Brother’s Husband (Otōto no Otto), and Taiyo Matsumoto's Sunny manga.

Kodansha Comics is releasing Inuyashiki in North America, Viz Media is releasing Sunny, and Pantheon Books is publishing My Brother’s Husband.

The festival also revealed its nominees for Best Youth Comic, Best Heritage Comic, and Best Crime Comic. Angoulême nominated Lunlun Yamamoto's Hozunde! Papamokko and Kōhei Horikoshi's My Hero Academia manga for Best Youth Comic, and nominated Kazuo Kamimura's Rikon Club manga for Best Heritage Comic.

Angoulême had nominated Sunny for the Best Comic award at the 42nd annual event in 2015. The event last year hosted Katsuhiro Ōtomo. Otomo won the Grand Prix d'Angoulême in 2015, becoming the first Japanese artist and one of only five non-French creators to take the festival's top prize.

The festival launched in 1974 as an event celebrating comics from countries throughout the world.
