Isekai Izakaya "Nobu" Alternate-World Gourmet Light Novels Get Anime

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Natsuya Semikawa's story, set in bar linked to another world, launched in 2014

The official Twitter account for the editorial department of the Takarajimasha Inc. publisher announced on Thursday that Natsuya Semikawa's Isekai Izakaya "Nobu" (Alternate World Bar "Nobu") light novel series has an anime adaptation in the works. The announcement is on the wraparound jacket band on the second light novel volume's reprint, which will ship on December 3.

The novels center on a bar called "Nobu" — located in Kyoto, Japan, but with a door that is connected to the bar in another world. The visitors include denizens of the other world, and customers seek out its excellent "Toriaezu Nama" ale and cuisine.

Semikawa launched the novel series on the Shōsetsu-ka ni Narou ("Let's Be Novelists") website in 2012, and the series won the site's "Ni Narou Con Taishō" contest award. Takarajimasha began publishing the story in print with illustrations by Kururi in 2014. Takarajima published the fourth volume of the series in December 2015, and is reprinting the series in bunkobon pocket paperback format with some new material. Virginia Nitōhei launched a manga adaptation of the series in Kadokawa's Young Ace magazine in July 2015, and Kadokawa published the manga's second compiled book volume on July 4.
